After receiving an award from the Government’s Culture Recovery fund, the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall plan to hold several socially distanced events, once national lockdown is lifted.
The Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall is an iconic entertainment venue in Nottingham, and unfortunately like many other venues in the city, it has had to shut it’s doors during this global pandemic.
However, with lockdown due to end on 2 December 2020, the theatre plans to reopen its doors once again, and hold a number of events – with measures and procedures in place – to welcome back Nottingham audiences to the theatre.
Jonathan Saville, Director of Audiences and Programming at the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall said: “We’ve been working in meticulous detail on these plans for a long time now.
“We know that the experience of coming to a live performance creates a buzz that just doesn’t compare to anything else.
“When the time is right for us to reopen, we hope this shared joy is something our audiences, new and old, will come and rediscover with us. We can’t wait to welcome them back.”
Just like other entertainment venues within the city – including the Nottingham Playhouse and Nottingham Contemporary – the Theatre Royal received £851,604 through the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund.
With this funding, the theatre has put in place the new measures to ensure customers, staff, visiting artists and companies are safe within the venue.
A diverse programme of socially distanced and streamed events – to be announced in the up and coming weeks – has been scheduled to take place throughout the winter and continuing into Spring 2021.
