Fifty Shades Freed is the finale of the Fifty Shades trilogy and the moment that all fans have been waiting for – when Miss Anastasia Steele becomes Mrs Anastasia Grey.
The film was released on 9 February and was rated 4.3/10 by IMDb.
Fifty Shades of Grey was initially written by E.L. James as an erotic novel, which became so popular it led to another two books, all of which have become films that have received mixed reviews from the public.
Fifty Shades Freed begins with Anastasia (played by Dakota Johnson) and Christian (played by Jamie Dornan) getting married.
In contrast to the previous films, Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades Darker, this film retracts focus from the sexual and somewhat dark side of Ana and Christian’s relationship.
James Foley, the director of Fifty Shades Freed, tastefully shifts the focus from the erotic nature of the couple’s relationship to Christian’s personal journey, which is moving, as the audience see how he has changed from a controlling figure to someone that is capable of a loving relationship.
The previous two films have led viewers to question whether the love between Ana and Christian is based on love or lust. However, the final film reveals that the couple’s relationship is much more than just physical desire, as the previous films may suggest.
Fifty Shades Freed is much more than an erotic film, it tackles the issues rooted from being in foster care through the character of Christian, who in this film learns to let go of his past and look forward to his future which holds new responsibilities as Ana shares exciting news.
The film also features new plots, involving Ana’s former boss (Eric Johnson) and Christian’s sister (Rita Ora).
The carefully selected soundtrack, featuring the likes of Ellie Goulding with ‘Love me like you do’ marks the perfect end to the rollercoaster ride of Ana and Christian’s relationship and it is hard not to feel touched as the song plays during a flashback of all three films, showing when the couple first met to where they are now.
