This Sunday sees the return of everyone’s favourite ITV show, but this time we aren’t going down under to the other side of the world, but to the Valleys in Wales. Who will conquer in this year’s line up?
As you may have heard, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! Will unfortunately not be held in Australia this year – due to the Coronavirus pandemic. However, fans have not been left disappointed as this years cast will take on the challenges the show throws at them at the abandoned Gwrch Castle in Wales.
This year’s cast includes an array of sports and TV stars. The contestants this year include: Sir Mo Farah, Vernon Kay, Jessica Plummer, Victoria Derbyshire, Beverly Callard, Giovanna Fletcher, AJ Pritchard, Shane Ritchie, Hollie Arnold and Jordan North.
The same questions are raised every year – even before the show returns to our screens! Who will be favourite to win? Who is going to be continually voted for the trials? Who is going to argue the most? So many questions, yet we have no answer to them yet. However, this is where the predictions roll in…
Favourite to win?
If we look at the odds – produced by the bookies – this is a good starting to point to see who is favourite to win. At the moment – according to Ladbrokes – the favourite to win the series is author and wife of McFly front man Tom Fletcher, and that is Giovanna Fletcher. In second place is Shane Richie – former star of Eastenders.
From looking at these odds, I don’t disagree with them, yet I also don’t overly agree with them either. Over the last few years, Giovanna Fletcher has become more familiar to British audiences through her work on daytime TV and through her books. So, I believe she will be a fan favourite due to her heart-warming personality.
However, if we are basing audience’s view on tradition, then I think Shane Richie has the edge over Giovanna as most will know him from his infamous role as funny man Alfie Moon in EastEnders. Not only this, but he is a comedic man, and you can tell this from his entry video – when explaining what he has appeared in and he doesn’t mention EastEnders at all, despite this being his most famous role.
Some of the contestants that are further down in the odds that I believe could be a dark horse in the race to win is Sir Mo Farah, AJ Pritchard and Jessica Plummer. Sir Mo Farah is a sportsman loved by all across the country, so I think he will reside in the good books of viewers, and he seems the sort of person that has a secret funny side which will win him even more votes.
In terms of AJ Pritchard, simply because he is a dancer and is from Strictly will bode well with both young fans and the older fans who enjoyed watching him ballroom dance over the years.
Jessica Plummer is potentially one that won’t be known to many viewers, but she is best known for playing Chantelle Atkins in Eastenders – which she recently left after being killed by her husband. If you think back to last year, the winner was Jacqueline Jossa who was also a past Eastenders character who many wouldn’t have known. This is why I think Plummer could be a potential winner we would have never thought of.
Favourite for the trials?
If we look back over the years, there is always that one contestant that is consistently picked for trials because they might have the most fears or most adverse reactions to the trials. Some stand outs over the past include Gemma Collins, Helen Flanagan and of course Gillian McKeith.
Out of this year’s contestants, I think this is going to be a hard one to choose as it seems a very strong cast – with limited fears. If it was going to be anyone, I think it would either be Jessica Plummer or Victoria Derbyshire. Plummer mentions her deep fear of spiders, heights and even admits to having every phobia. This perhaps doesn’t help her case if she wants to avoid trials…
Victoria Derbyshire mentions she is also not a fan of spiders or confined spaces, so if anyone is going to be up for the trials the most, these are the two to look out for…
Most likely to cause some arguments?
This is the one question that you can never answer until you are sitting down, watching the contestants meet each other and seeing how they cope together for the duration of the show. So, predictions for this are open to all thinking.
Based on her feisty character in Coronation Street, I am thinking Beverley Callard is the most likely to cause some sort of confrontation within the camp. However, this is only based on a fictional character and not her real-life persona.
Like I said before, this is a question that will remain unanswered until viewers see the contestants on screen and in the camp.
So, there you have it. These are my predictions for I’m a Celeb this year, however they are predictions for a reason, everything remains unanswered until Ant and Dec return to our screens. This year’s show will be one of the most significant in the shows history as it deals with a new location, so it is just left for us to watch and see what it entails…
Do you agree with these predictions? What are your predictions for the show this year? Let us know!
