Daniel Craig has been as amazing as the great Bonds of the past – but all good things must come to an end, and now the question is: who will step up and gain a licence to kill?
A key actor that stands out to me for the part is Taron Egerton, star of the 2014 spy comedy Kingsman. From The secret service to her majesty’s service, Taron Egerton proves he is an actor of many talents and in my opinion would be the perfect replacement to take over from Daniel Craig.
Not only has Egerton got the looks for all the ladies out there (including myself) and the Bond girls, he is an actor of many talents and appears in a wide range of different films, including comedies such as Eddie the Eagle. Taron also is know for having a very good singing voice after appearing in the animated musical Sing and the more recent biopic about Elton John, Rocketman.
However, James Bond isn’t exactly known for wanting to sing or have a laugh as he is more serious character, but could this be a new take on Bond? While it’s unlikely that 007 will be dropping a musical number any time soon, Egerton is still familiar with being involved in drama and thriller films on his repertoire including Billionaire Boys Club, Legend, and last year’s Robin Hood.
This is why Egerton would be a great pick for the next Bond – not only does he have a wide range of films from different genres behind him, but he appeals to a young audience that will perhaps expand the age demographic of those wanting to watch the Bond films, and maybe move towards a younger and more enthusiastic James Bond.
Overall, I believe Taron Egerton hasn’t only got the looks, but is a great young talent in the UK film industry at the moment and I think he will bring a younger and more modern outlook towards the character that will not only be enjoyed by long-time fans like me, but also by many others across a wide age range.
