WRAP is the new initiative here at Trent for those who love to write and read for pleasure. Through the scheme, students can gain access to writing workshops, book groups and much more.
Introduced this autumn, WRAP – an extra-curricular programme – has been introduced to encourage students here at NTU to develop their creative skills, engage in some challenging discussions and most importantly get inspired.
What makes it more engaging is it is a scheme run for students by students.
Through WRAP, students can get involved in weekly and monthly workshops, mentoring sessions with PHD students, book clubs and attend public events set up by the scheme.
As well as this, they also hold the WRAP café – a monthly get together where attendees get together to share their writing alongside guests and even a chance to share their own work in an open mic session!
Over the past month, WRAP have partaken in a number of events including meeting with Black Archives curator Panya Banjoko for a specila NTU Edition of “Read a Black Author Bookclub” and an interview with Iqra Kataria – writer and graduate from the NTU MA in Creative writing.
This year, the Culture and Entertainment section here at Platform will be working closely with WRAP to benefit both the scheme and Platform.
Through this, we will be bringing you exclusive coverage from WRAP events – attended by Platform writers – so readers can experience what you are missing out on the events, and maybe even encourage you to check them out yourself!
