Piers Morgan quits Good Morning Britain after thousands of complaints were made over his comments about Megan Markle.
Since 2015, Piers Morgan has been one of the first faces we see in the morning. However, after his most recent comments about Meghan Markle, Ofcom received over 40,000 complaints, so he has come to the decision to step down.
Following Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah, Piers said that he didn’t believe a word of it and took to Twitter to share his views. This included that he wouldn’t believe Meghan if she gave him the weather report.
Additionally, a petition to have Piers Morgan sacked over the comments had reached more than 85,000 signatures by the time he “quit” the show.
Earlier today, Piers also walked off the Good Morning Britain set after co-star Alex Beresford called Piers out on his comments.
An ITV spokesperson has said: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. “ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
