This week, Lady Gaga shared a peak into the upcoming fashion film House of Gucci, to be released later this year coinciding with the house’s 100th anniversary.
Much like The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, a new fatal tale from the fashion archives is being made for the screens. Directed by Ridley Scott, the film is based on the book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story Of Murder, Madness, Glamour, And Greed by Sara Gay Forden which tells the sensational story of the Gucci Dynasty.
House of Gucci follows the marriage of Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of Guccio Gucci (founder of Gucci) and heir to the fashion house. Their marriage ended after 12 years when Gucci left Reggiani for another woman in 1985. Ten years later, Gucci was assassinated on the steps of his office in Italy by a hired hitman. Reggiani was arrested for murder, the film depicting the lead-up to her trial.
The film has an all-star cast line-up with Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born) playing Patrizia Reggiani, ex-wife of Maurizo Gucci who is played by Adam Driver (Marriage Story and Star Wars). Other featuring actors will be Oscar-winning Jeremy Irons taking on the role of Rodolfo Gucci (the father of Maurizio), Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci (brother of Maurizio) and Gucci’s own model Jared Leto portraying Paulo Gucci (son of Aldo). Shooting has been taking place so far in Italy, the home of Gucci, starting in Rome before moving to the Italian Alps (showed in the background of Lady Gaga’s recent Instagram post). If you can’t wait for the release of this star-studded spectacular, why not give the book a read first!
