September is finally here; the leaves are starting to change colour and the academic year starting once again. But whilst you’re sipping your pumpkin spiced lattes, here are the top ten things to watch this fall…
Cobra Kai
Netflix has recently added both seasons of Cobra Kai onto its streaming service – with the third season set to be released next year. This action-packed TV show is based on the Karate Kid films years later, and even includes snippets from the original films as well as some of the original cast – including Ralph Macchio and William Zabka. It follows the lives of their characters, Lawrence and LaRousso, after the 1984 Valley Karate Tournament. LaRousso is now a successful businessman, and Lawrence has reopened the notorious Cobra Kai dojo.
Tenet
If you are looking for an action-packed film, look no further, as Warner Brothers have just realised Tenet, – starring John David Washington, Robert Pattison, and Elizabeth Debicki. It follows the life of a secret agent who needs to complete his mission in order to prevent world war three from outbreaking, however if that wasn’t challenging enough, he also must be wary of espionage and time-bending manipulation.
The Boys
Who doesn’t love a bit of superhero drama? This Amazon Original Series is set in a world where anyone with a superpower is recognised as a hero, and they are all owned by Vought International, a company which makes money off them. However, although the public may see these people are heroes, many are actually arrogant and selfish, but who will stop them when the heroes are the enemies.
Mulan
Disney recreated their 1998 animated film, and it was set to be released in March 2020 until the pandemic hit. However, Disney Plus+ now has the new Mulan film on there! All our Disney needs can once again be fulfilled, as we watch Mulan take her father’s spot in the military by impersonating a man. Despite her wisdom and dragon, she never expected to fall in love with her captain.
Lucifer
Another season of Lucifer has been released on Netflix, meaning the shows fans can finally watch the fifth season whilst the sixth and final season is currently being filmed. With miracle babies, evil twins, and serial killers this could be the best season yet, but although this may sound like a horror show Lucifer is a drama TV series with a lot of comical moments.
Enola Holmes
Although it hasn’t been released yet, this film is anticipated to be a huge success. It stars well-known actors like Millie Bobby Brown, Helena Carter, Henry Cavill and Sam Clafin. The film is based around Enola Holmes – Sherlock Holmes younger sister – who decides to look for their mother after she goes missing and discovers a dangerous conspiracy along the way.
Homecoming
It’s hard to watch anything on Amazon Prime without seeing advertisements for Homecoming – a phycological thriller tv series. It follows the work of Heidi Bergman, a social worker at the Geist facility where she helps soldiers’ transition back into civilian life. A lot of questions surround this series, and once you start watching it will be almost impossible to stop.
Borgen
This political drama series aired for three seasons from 2010 – 2013, so you may be wondering why you should watch it now. Well, Netflix is reviving the beloved series and bringing it back for a fourth season. The show follows the life of Denmark’s first female prime minister, and how she balances her job being a divorcee and single mother under the pressure of an entire country.
Love, Guaranteed
September is bringing us loads of new films, including Love, Guaranteed, a film you do not want to miss. This romantic comedy follows a lawyer who takes a case from a man wanting to sue a dating website that guaranteed to find him love. He has been on 1000 first dates but is still single, but as the case heats up so does the romance between them.
Jack Whitehall: Travels with my Father
Jack Whitehall is a hilarious comedian, who has starred in many comedy series including Bad Education and Fresh meat. He teamed up with his dad for some travel adventures in Travels with my Father which is returning this month on Netflix with the fourth season. These two individuals may be related but have very different personalities, which seem to clash in a comical way all over the world.
