TV Review: Superstore

Looking for a bingeworthy lockdown comedy drama? Enjoy this review of the pure comedy gold from the Netflix top 10 trending TV show – Superstore.

Superstore is an American sitcom, created by Justin Spitzer and is part of NBCs wide range of shows. Set in a supermarket in St Louis, Missouri, this series explores the comedic value of working as part of a team with some out of the box drama flowing throughout.

This comedy show is one of those series which increasingly improves each season – with outstanding ratings on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes. Each episode consists of 20 minutes with pure comedy drama with around 20 episodes each season. There is a lot of quality content for you to invest in.

From fights, weddings, pregnancies, relationships and even a tornado! Be prepared to be engulfed into this series back-to-back. With a cast of hilarious actors, with some stand out performances from America Ferrera (Amy), Lauren Ash (Dina) and my personal favourite the sweetheart Kaliko Kauahi (Sandra) who I just adore whenever she appears in a scene.

Some of the standout moments that entertained me are the first episode with Jonah, Amyā€™s daughterā€™s Quinceanera, Sandraā€™s wedding along with the rivalry of Sandra and Carol throughout: Sandraā€™s face when she closes the door on Carol during the tornadoā€“ I was laughing for a good 15 minutes (please watch the whole series just for this moment).

This trending gem is bound to leave you entertained during lockdown, I have binged five seasons of it in two weeks on top of doing a pile of university work, I just canā€™t keep my eyes off the screen.

The sixth series of Superstore is currently being broadcast on NBC so letā€™s hope it gets added to Netflix soon so I can enjoy one of my new favourite shows all over again.

Superstore is found on Netflix, but also airs at different times on ITV2. It is a show I can highly recommend to anybody who loves a light-hearted, funny show which they can binge straight through.
