Top five films to get you in the festive spirit

Now the days are getting colder, and the nights are getting darker, you might be feeling a bit low.

But what better way to get your spirits up than to watch some Christmas classics that’ll leave you feeling warm and jolly.

Here’s my top five films to do just that.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

If you’re still reminiscing over the spooky season, then this film is the perfect transition.

Blending the holidays of Halloween and Christmas, Tim Burton immerses you in the stop-motion world of Jack Skellington – the King of Halloween Town.

Follow Jack on his mission to take control of the festivities and spread the joy of Christmas – with a few ‘nightmares’ along the way.

The Muppet Christmas Carol

It really isn’t Christmas until you’ve watched this family favourite!

The Muppet Christmas Carol is a unique re-imagination of the beloved Charles Dickens classic.

Jam packed with catchy musical numbers, this film is guaranteed to leave you feeling full of festive spirit.

Gremlins

Avoid bright light, don’t get them wet, and don’t feed them after midnight!

If you’re in search of a completely different genre, then Gremlins is the perfect choice for you.

In this comedy-horror classic, Billy is gifted a small, furry creature called Gizmo.

But, after breaking the three rules of caring for him, mayhem and chaos are unleashed.

Nativity

If you haven’t seen this British classic then honestly where have you been?

Hollywood are coming!

And they’re here to watch the primary school nativity.

What could possibly go wrong?

With a star-studded cast including Martin Freeman and Pam Ferris, and catchy songs that will never leave your head, this film is not one to miss.

The Holiday

Feeling the holiday blues, Iris and Amanda decide to swap homes for a change of scene, not expecting to both find the perfect remedy.

Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jack Black and Jude Law star in this rom-com that will leave you longing for a whirlwind wintery romance of your own.

So grab a hot chocolate and a blanket and cosy up for a night full of Christmas classics to get you in the festive spirit.
