If you’re looking for a bargain and a day out of the hustle and bustle of Nottingham city centre, Sherwood is the place for you.
You can catch an array of buses from multiple stops or walk from the city, which takes about 40 minutes from Old Market Square – depending on how quick you are.
Once you arrive, assuming you’re taking the bus, you make your way past arguably one of the city’s best spoons – The Samuel Hall.
The popular pub chain holds a special place in every student’s heart and would be the ideal stop for a cheap bite or a quick drink with its chill vibes and quiz nights.
Once you’re fed, pass the Pudding Pantry restaurant and hop into Hope charity shop where you are always greeted by a friendly face and have a look around as there are always hidden gems to be found.
After having an explore, go next door to the quirky Nottinghamshire Hospice shop with a Tardis changing room, the perfect surprise for Doctor Who lovers!
Cross the road and there are four more charity shops on this side of the road, Cancer Research, Sue Ryder, PDSA and The Children’s Society charity shops.
Sue Ryder is one I would especially recommend as it’s the perfect place to admire their display of affordable preloved furniture that could fit in perfectly in your Uni house, although you may struggle to get it home! Just recently I brought some coach shoes here for £3!
After stopping at the last charity shop on this side, the children’s society shop, you could pop over to The Crimson Tree where you can grab yourself a well-earned, yummy, sweet treat.
With its gorgeous floral exterior and rustic interior, it’s one stop in Sherwood that can’t be missed. Next, pop yourself over the road to neighbouring charity shops Oxfam and Mind.
Stepping into Mind is like walking into your glamorous mum’s walk-in wardrobe after shopping at brands like Zara, Coast and M&S. Because of this, Mind is on the more expensive side but still one to check out even if you do end up buying pieces for your mum like I do!
One last charity shop is left, hopefully by this point your granny trollies are filled to the brim, stroll down the road to Nottinghamshire’s Scouts charity shop where you may have to rummage but there may be an unnoticed treasure lurking behind a trinket or bag.
Finally catch the 5-minute bus ride back to Forest Fields and once you’re home admire and display your bargains! Hopefully you’ll love Sherwood as much as I do and feel inspired to check it out and support your local charities.
