It’s hard to not be biased in this review. I’ve been madly in love with the brand Glossier for years. Their extremely natural makeup vibes, a huge focus on great skincare, and gorgeous packaging has always appealed to me. Who doesn’t want to be done with their makeup in about 5 seconds?
Tragically they’ve never shipped to the UK before. Until now. As soon as I heard that happy news I jumped straight onto glossier.com and filled my shopping cart to the brim… Then slowly unfilled it as I realised I’m a student who does need to pay rent and eat.
As much as I love them, Glossier is real expensive. Their balm.com lip balm may be cute as hell, but is it really worth £10? When my £1 chapstick kinda has me covered? Same thing goes for their £11 lip gloss, although overpriced clear lip gloss seems to be a la mode these days (looking at you Fenty Beauty).
So I set myself a budget, aka the price of free shipping. In Glossier’s case, that’s orders of £25 and over.
As fate would have it, that’s the exact price of the one Glossier product I’ve been drooling over for years. Their cult favourite status Cloud Paints- described as a “pillowy, gel-cream formula” that’s “Inspired by gradient pink NYC sunsets”. Basically it’s a gel blush. It comes in four shades; Puff, a bubblegum pink, Beam, a bright coral tone, Haze, a berry shade, and Dusk, which is a darker apricot that’s more of a bronzer.
One single 10ml tube is £15, but they offer a duo deal for £25. I picked Haze and Dusk, and clicked order.
They arrived a neat three days later, in a cute clear makeup bag, with Glossier themed stickers! Already off to a good start. As expected the packaging was to die for- they look exactly like watercolour paint tubes.
I tried Haze first. Warning! Be careful when squeezing product out, as a little goes a really long way. I just used my fingers and dabbed two little dots onto the apples of my cheeks, then blended out.
Haze looks very, very bright at first, kinda like I’d just been on a 2k run.If you leave it to melt into your face for a few seconds, though, it really leaves such a gorgeous, natural blush.
If you want that “I’ve been hiking on a sunny day” tan then Dusk is perfect, swiped along the sides of the face and across the bridge of the nose. As I’m paper-coloured pale, it works well as contour for me, but I think would be a lovely peachy blush on darker skin tones.
The formula is basically the definition of barely there, although it can slightly disrupt any other products you have underneath when applying, because of its rather liquidy nature.
Overall, though, I would totally recommend Cloud Paint. If it’s easy to use nature or beautiful colour doesn’t sway you, then surely its versatility does. Haze can be used as a lip colour, Dusk as an eyeshadow, or both just as pretty desk décor.
So get yourself over to glossier.com. Now they ship to the UK, you’ve got no excuses.
