The Christmas countdown has begun with just 34 days to go, now is the best time to get into the spirit by taking part in festive activities.

1. Winter Wonderland Nottingham
Nottingham’s Winter Wonderland has yet again returned to spread festive cheer across the Old Market Square in the city centre. Running from the 7th November to the 31st of December, the wonderland consists of an ice skating rink, bars, food stalls, a ferris wheel, live music and much more. Christmas gifts and decorations will also be sold, making for a great opportunity to buy some hand crafted local presents. There is no cost to attend the event, but prices of individual stalls and activities will apply.

2. Wollaton Park
From the 1st of December to the 1st of January the historical Wollaton Hall is hosting a range of Christmas events suitable for all ages. The Elizabethan manor house will be lit up and decked out, featuring a ‘festive trail’ event on each day running from 4pm to 8pm. The trail is described as ‘An immersive world of seasonal sparkle.’ The grounds also are home to wild deer who make regular appearances. In order to take part you can book tickets online for Ā£29 for an adult, Ā£21.75 for a child, along with the options of family and group tickets.

3. Cinderella at The Nottingham Playhouse
If you are looking for a cosy afternoon with family and friends, the Nottingham Playhouse is performing classic fairy-tale pantomime Cinderella with a talented cast, comedy chaos and dazzling dancing. The opening show is the 1st of December, and closes on the 14th of January. With tickets starting at Ā£18.50 and ranging up to Ā£50. 4. Nottingham National Ice Centre
If you fancy a more upbeat festive activity, why not head over to the National Ice Centre in Lace Market and get your skates on. Along side the ice rink, there will be a Santa’s Grotto, Festive Skate on the 2nd of December and a Christmas light switch on the 25th of November. The grotto costs Ā£18 per child, including some extra festive bonuses along with a meeting Santa. It is open on the 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 21st and 24th December.

5. Down For The Count: Royal Albert Hall NottinghamĀ
Swing into Christmas with the travelling orchestra ‘Down For The Count’ doing a performance at the Royal Albert Hall in the city centre on the 22nd of December at 7.30pm. The performance is two and a half hours long and will feature music by: Nat āKingā Cole, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra. Tickets are selling out fast and start at Ā£13.
