Guitarist, Louie Cameron, discusses the bands new music, upcoming gigs and future plans.
Louise: How did you choose the name In Waves?
Louie: “We’ve been through a lot as a band but also as friends, and through that we’ve realised that everything comes and goes, ebbs and flows and comes in waves, so from all that when In Waves came up as a name, it just felt right for us from the off.”
Louise: How did the band meet?
Louie: “We originally met from playing around bands and going to shows and formed another band.
“Then through lockdown we relaunched with a new name and a bunch of new songs that became In Waves.”
Louise: What is the song you are most proud of?
“Probably our forthcoming single ‘Where Did The Love Go?’”
Louise: How would you describe the bands style?
Louie: “We don’t really tend to adhere to musical boundaries as such, and have a very wide range of influences, but I think to try and narrow it down you could say energetic alt-pop with indie swagger and introspective lyrics, maybe.”
Louise: What would be the greatest achievement your band is hoping to achieve in your musical career?
Louie: “To become the biggest band in the world playing the biggest shows and meaning everything to our fanbase.”
Louise: How do you feel to be performing your biggest shows to date at Manchester and London?
Louie: “It’s an amazing feeling! Playing any show is great, but to know that we have such big shows coming up is very exciting and we can’t wait for them.”
Louise: How do you feel about releasing your new single ‘Where Did The Love Go’?
Louie: “So excited! This is one that we’ve played at every live show so far and has always received an electric reception, so we hope that translates over to the record too.”
Louise: What are your plans for the rest of the year?
Louie: “All of the above! We’re always creating new music and looking to perform in front of an audience.
“Hopefully some festivals too would be nice, but just getting out there with new songs and playing them to as many people in as many places as possible.”
The band have three singles under their belt alongside BBC Introducing recognition, In Waves are one to keep an eye on.
