This year has had many twists and turns, and we’re only halfway through…
We have faced storms, the Australian wildfires, Brexit, and a global pandemic. Each month seems to bring about a new global crisis for us to worry about.
Which is why Kelly Clarkson’s 2011 song, Stronger, perfectly sums up 2020 so far, as it recognises the bad parts of life and offers hope.
The key line ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ is great advice, as no matter what 2020 may bring we are able to learn from it and grow as individuals.
Kelly Clarkson released the pop song as part of her 2011 album, which she also entitled Stronger. Although the song refers to relationship problems it can still apply to most situations.
The line ‘doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone’ can also apply to the current lockdown, as thousands of people are feeling lonely in their own homes.
However, with technology, people are able to communicate over face time and take part in online events to stay connected.
I chose this song to represent 2020 because it shows that whatever problems we face, we can overcome them. When considering the pandemic, the advice in the song is also important, as there are so many people who have survived the virus and have become stronger because of it. The song also advises people not to give up, and as a nation, we are trying not to give up to the virus and are living our lives as much as we can during lockdown.
