Notts is extremely lucky to have some of the finest music venues in the world. Biased we know, but very true. With thousands of unique artists all from divergent genres coming to East Midlands every week, we are well and truly spoilt for choice.
From hip-hop to hard rock, hopefully this gig guide will provide you and your mates with some inspiration to go and check out Nottingham’s most happening venues for first term.
MY NU LENG & M8S – Sunday October 8th, Stealth, £13.20
The two Bristol DJ’s bring their bass led sound to Stealth. Having sampled tracks from a range of dissimilar genres, you can never predict what the duo are going to do next. Their latest track “Jigsaw” featuring Friction is bound to go off like crazy.
SUPERFOOD – Thursday, October 12th, The Bodega, £11.20
The “Britpop revivalists” have dropped their second album “Bambino” and their latest single “Unstoppable” is catchy with a synth-heavy chorus, sounding Gorillaz-esque. The Birmingham quartet have dipped into many several genres and their show at The Bodega will illustrate how far they’ve come since their debut in 2013.
SLØTFACE – Monday October 16th, The Bodega, £7.75
Norwegian pop-punk band SLØTFACE are known for their feminist lyrics and having a strong political attitude, and undoubtedly, they are one of the most exhilarating bands right now. “Magazine” is a killer anthem that has 90s grunge sound throughout. Frontwoman Harley Shea is expected to be stage diving and wants to inspire girls to get involved with the moshpits.
LETHAL BIZZLE – Monday October 16th, Rock City, £20.35
Actor, designer but most notably grime MC Lethal Bizzle is bringing the “Fester Skank” to Rock City. After a successful career with the Roll Deep squad and grime’s strong grip on the current music scene, the London rapper’s new album “Lennox Rd” is expected to earn its place on grime’s wall of fame.
JORDAN RAKEI – Tuesday October 17th, Rescue Rooms, £12.00
A voice that is soulful and smooth like a well-practiced instrument. Australian-born Jordan Rakei is experimental with his sound and blends jazz with hip hop. His psychedelic beats mixed with the piano are sublime and his lyricism exemplifies his maturation into an artist.
NOTHING BUT THIEVES – Friday November 10th, Rock City, £20.72
One of the most exciting alternative band at the moment. The Essex five-piece will be touring their forthcoming album “Broken Machine” in November. Hits include “Itch”, “Ban all the Music” and the latest single “Sorry”. Frontman Conor Mason provides audiences with guttural choruses and operatic tones and has even being compared to Adele!
WOLF ALICE – Wednesday November 15th, Rock City, £21.28
From the immense success of their debut album, fans were sent into a frenzy when their new single “Yuk Foo” was released earlier this year. The London band’s new album “Visions of a Life” is thrilling and cathartic. Sounding more grungy and self-indulgent with the soft tones of Ellie Rowell’s voice, expect rowdiness and plenty of moshing at their gigs.
DEAF HAVANA – Friday November 17th, Rock City, £18.48
Formed in 2005, Deaf Havana have returned with their fourth album “All the Countless Nights”. The band have evolved and continuously experimented with their sound, but their latest release seems their most natural and best yet. The Norfolk band tackle heart-wrenching issues in their songs, however, they always put on an enthusiastic, upbeat show for their fans.

ROYAL BLOOD – Saturday November 25th, Motorpoint Arena, £35.75
Back in 2013, Royal Blood stormed onto the music scene with intense, heavy, and sexy riffs. Their second album “How Did We Get So Dark” released earlier this year has seen the band go from strength to strength, with even more powerful, rugged basslines. Their arena tour in November will most definitely be electrifying, especially when they play fan favourites.
ASHFIELDS – Saturday December 16th, Rescue Rooms, £7.70
The five-piece indie band from Nottingham are headlining the Rescue Rooms for a home coming gig which is going to be extra special for them. Their latest EP, “New Skin” captures the pure essences of indie music with its likeable guitar riffs and lyrics. This year, they have played at Nott’s “Dot-to-Dot” Festival and have supported The Sherlocks on their tour.
