‘Don’t Start Now’ is the perfect new club hit that is guaranteed to get everyone up on their feet.
Dua Lipa herself has described the track as the closing of a chapter in her life. This again comes after her debut album which included multiple hits from Lipa’s repertoire including: ‘Blow Your Mind (Mwah)’, ‘IDGAF’ and ‘New Rules’ which became an instruction guide to any girl trying to get over an ex.
The track is obviously inspired by the 80s, making it perfect for playing in the clubs. When talking about the track, she said: “It’s about moving on and not allowing anyone to get in the way of that.” Dua has showcased this feeling in the song well with the lyrics: “Don’t come out / Don’t show up / Don’t start now.” She is showing her strong independent female spirit through this song as she is saying she doesn’t need anyone else to have fun except herself.
This song provides an anthem to any girl out there who possibly can’t shake off their ex or just anyone who wants to have fun and be themselves but there’s someone standing in the way of them.
