The queen of glamours melancholia is back with her new single, Let Me Love You Like a Woman. We all know Lana Del Rey for her captivating voice and moving musical masterpieces, and this single is no different..
It is a sneak peek of what can be anticipated from the upcoming album, Chemtrails Over The Country Club. The melody encompasses soft guitar riffs played in harmony with tranquillising piano chords, evoking all kinds of emotions with her staple subdued vocals.
The song tells a story of moving your life and is an ode to fresh starts, which is pretty symbolic to all us students at the moment. While a lot of her other albums satirically touch upon the superficiality of Hollywood glamour, like Gods And Monsters from her album Paradise way back in 2012, Let Me Love You Like a Woman is there to show the alluring factors of the Hollywood life and shows how she will always be drawn back to it. In an NME interview in 2019, Del Rey stated: ‘If you’re moving to a major city, it’s going to take a few years. Double down on your efforts to make friends because they ain’t coming to you. You’ve got to sniff them out like a little bloodhound. It’s tough, but I do actually love it here.”.
Listening to Lana del Rey is always more than just listening to a song, but she takes you on a journey which can sometimes feel overly relatable, whatever the mood may be she has a song to fit it. The lyrics: “I come from a small town far away” are repeated, which really installs the message of moving away from a quiet life to a bustling city. Maybe this is a personal one for me, but this is a lyric which hit home and allowed a relation to the song.
This single feels Ultraviolence-esque which has created a great deal of excitement for the rest of the album which will follow from Let Me Love You Like a Woman. Her iconic sad girl sound is back and ready to embrace her fans once again.
