Little Mix have released their fifth single Sweet Melody following the announcement of their upcoming album Confetti…
Teasing the announcement on social media last week, Little Mix said: “So you’ve had something sassy, now something happy… who’s ready for something sweet” and the girls came through with their promise!
This single is about being blinded by love from their lover’s sweet melodies: “He played me, made me believe it was real love, sang me sweet melodies”
The vibe of the song reminds me of their second album Salute, released in 2013, which followed the same idea of celebrating strong women and their independence with its sassy tone.
Sweet Melody has had a huge reaction as this single came along with a music video – the girls are seen wearing all black, smashing the saucy hardcore choreography.
However, fans took to social media to highlight their confusion over why Jesy Nelson did not have a transition sole part in the music video, whereas the other members did.
Yet the overall reaction towards the music video was positive and many commented on the videos fierce and fiery concept.
Little Mix are well known for their intense dance routines especially on tour – we can expect to see more of these dance moves at their Confetti tour in April 2021.
Fans are convinced that the new single is about Perrie Edwards’ former fiancée and One Direction member Zayn Malik.
Speculation arose from these specific lyrics: “He was in a band, full of songs about me”
The lyrics go on to sing: “He would lie, he would cheat, over syncopated beats”
Although, some fans have suggested on social media that the song is actually about Jesy Nelson’s former fiancé Jake Roche who was in the band Rixton.

Little Mix’s new single Sweet Melody has already been a hit with listeners – the racy music video and the speculation surrounding the single’s motive has created more popularity for the song overall.
Will Little Mix release a sixth single or do we have to wait until 6 November for the full album release of Confetti?
