The 1975 celebrate the love of friendship in their delightful new song Guys…
The 1975 have released yet another song off their highly anticipated fourth album, Notes on a Conditional Form, which is set to be released May 22 2020.
Mid-tempo and atmospheric, you are led through carefully crafted lyrics which are nothing but a love letter to his bandmates. All the wonderful notes led soulfully by Matt Healy.
Tonally, the song is reminiscent of their debut album The 1975 and seems like less of a statement on society and contemporary culture which their last two albums have embodied. It is more of a grounded, personal and powerful commentary on love, but the love of a bro, or a homie, or a pal.
In case you were in any doubt just how much Matty loves his bandmates, he cycles through statements such as: “It was the best thing that ever happened to me / The moment that we started a band, was the best thing that ever happened to me / And I wish that we could do it again.”
The song is yet another statement from the band; albeit a relatively easy one to understand. It’s not only okay to love your friend and appreciate them, but it’s also okay to let them know this fact. It’s a cheesy, emotive, nostalgic love letter to platonic friendship, that hits all the right notes and tugs on all the heartstrings if you can relate and have friends that you love in this way.
