The Most Fire Tracks You Should Listen to This Week

Nick Lowe takes us through this weeks favourite songs that deserve recognition. Give them a try and you’ll certainly agree!

Hannah Diamond — ‘True’

PC Music’s finest releases her first single in two years and doesn’t disappoint. The emotional and heartfelt track features progressive synth-leads throughout as she sings “I look in your eyes/I see right through/I know that you’ve found someone new”

L Devine — ‘Runnin’

21-year-old pop singer-songwriter from Newcastle releases her first mixtape ‘Peer Pressure’ and this track is not one to be skipped. With its anthemic chorus and playful verses, not only could it quite literally get you running, but it’ll also have you dancing.

The Vaccines — ‘All My Friends Are Falling In Love’

If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be in a stadium screaming your favourite song along with 50,000 other people, this track’s for you. After their slightly disappointing third LP — The Vaccines return and show us why they’re one of UK’s best bands.

Mariah Carey — ‘Giving Me Life’

18 years into her career with 13 albums to her name, Mariah shows exactly how she has remained the Queen of R&B on her latest album ‘Caution.’ This track, produced by UK’s Devonté Hynes, is a sweet and blissful track which not only crosses a variety of genres along its way, but has an outro with a guitar riff so soft it’ll take you into another dimension.

Little Mix — ‘Wasabi’

You have to give it to Little Mix; not many girl groups can make it past 5 albums and still remain as strong as ever. Wasabi is a perfect combination of attitude, irony and empowerment. Not to mention, the shift in the explosive and distorted guitar-driven pre-chorus to the hard-hitting electronic chorus has to be one of the best pop moments of the year.

Broods — ‘Everything Goes (Wow)’

New Zealand’s sibling duo release their new shimmering single ahead of their new album ‘Don’t Feed The Pop Monster ’ due out in February next year. It seems like, in fact, they’re feeding the pop monster themselves on this new track, with its funk-breakdown followed by distorted electric guitars and Notts’ soft, beachy vocals.

The Japanese House — ‘Follow My Girl’

The emotional, uneasy verses that contrast with its accompanying sugary and danceable chorus makes this a standout in this weeks New Music Friday. “Different people have their different ways of living/I chose mine and it was unforgiving” she sings over contorted backing vocals that’ll send you into a dream.

Isaac Dunbar — ‘blonde’

Similar to the likes of Billie Eilish and Clairo, Isaac Dubar is bedroom-pop’s new favourite star. At only 15 years old, he not only writes, but produces his own music too. The beautiful and bouncy ‘Blonde’ is a new piece to the puzzle which seems to be gradually forming to show an understanding of who this musician really is.
