With Glastonbury being cancelled this year, why not stay closer to home and check out Nottingham’s very own Splendour festival…
Splendour Festival is celebrating its 10th birthday this year with a line-up you will not want to miss! Paloma Faith
is headlining and other acts performing include The Charlatans, Marc Almond and Sophie Ellis Bextor.
The event has seen everyone from Blondie to Dizzee Rascal perform over the past decade. This year, Paloma Faith will take to the stage to perform to almost 30,000 festival-goers. It will actually be the singer’s own birthday too, so that’s extra reason to celebrate! Of course, Splendour festival has also supported local artists over the years such as Saint Raymond, Amber Run and notably, Jake Bugg who headlined the event in 2013. This year, Ady Suleiman will be performing, who is local lad himself.
Taking place on Saturday July 21st at Wollaton Park, the family-friendly festival has something for everyone; from 90’s indie rockers The Charlatans, to pop sensation Sophie Ellis-Bextor. There is an ‘acoustic rooms’ stage for a more mellow vibe, as well as the ‘Confetti stage’. There is also a comedy tent including Brian & Krysstal, Dave Twentyman and Patrick Monahan.
If you like a silent disco (and who doesn’t?), you will have the chance to grab a pair of headphones and dance to your heart’s content. Alternatively, if it is more candy floss and fun fair rides that float your boat… you guessed it, there will be a funfair too!
There will also be an independent market stall area.
The weather has been fantastic this summer and, if we are lucky, the sun will be shining while people enjoy the music.
General Admission is £53.90 and can be found here
