Detonate have sent a text message out on Thursday evening saying the festival grounds were flooded and due to health and safety precautions, could not be opened the following Saturday on the 26th October.
The actual location of the festival was never revealed to us festival goers, but the pictures attached to the posts looked straight out of World War One.
Detonate shared that: “a dedicated team of ground specialists have been making huge efforts to improve areas of the site affected by the weather, but today’s downpours have caused conditions on site to dramatically worsen.”
The question I have is how late did they put up the tents for there to be water and flooding inside? Especially as the rival festival run by Stealth in Wollaton park looks fresh and ready to go.
Another issue I am concerned about are the people like my friend who bought resell tickets on unofficial ticket pages. They will be counting on the kind souls of Nottingham to return them the money after the refunds are sent out by Detonate.
Nevertheless, I and many others are bitterly disappointed with the news as it would have been one of the biggest events that I would have attended in Nottingham over my three years at University. You could tell by the post Detonate put up that they shared equally in my disappointment.
They said: “we’re truly gutted to be delivering this news instead of sharing our excitement about what we fully expected to be one of Detonate’s best events to date. “
At the end of the day we can’t be too mad at Detonate for not being able to control the weather, better luck next year and there is always their annual summer festival to look forward to.
Until then I’ll be seeing you all at Wollaton this Saturday instead.
