Nearly 100 restaurants and cafes in Nottingham have signed up to the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme piloted by the Government.
The scheme is designated to support companies that have struggled during the coronavirus pandemic, specifically those who suffered as a result of lockdown.
During August, customers are able to get 50 per cent off food and non-alcoholic drinks up to a total of £10 per person if you eat in, thanks to the Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
The scheme runs throughout August but is only eligible from Monday to Wednesday during the month.
It can be used as many times as you like and there is no minimum spend either. The scheme can also be used alongside other offers and discounts.
Various restaurants and food outlets have signed up for the initiative – including some of our favourite Nottingham independent and franchise businesses.
We have listed each of the restaurants who have signed up for the scheme below and we’ve added a short review of our favourites.
The restaurants who have signed up to the scheme:
Belgrave Rooms – Goldsmith St, NG1 5LB
The Playwright – Shakespeare Street, NG1 4FQ
A popular spot for students to visit, The Playwright is somewhere we cannot wait to return to.
The prices may, sometimes, be on the high side but you cannot beat the value for money.
Our last visit came on a Sunday during term-time when we ordered a roast dinner.
The discount may not be eligible over the weekend but if the roast dinner was anything to go by, we would highly recommend any of their food options.

The cafe, which is also a re-homing and care facility for cats and kittens of all backgrounds, offers a huge variety of food and is hugely popular among students.
Watch out, however, as the longer you leave crumbs on the floor the more likely you’ll miss out as the mischievous cats love to steal some treats!
