A 26-year old man has been arrested after a five-hour stand-off in Nottingham café.
Police officers were first called to Costa Coffee on Friar Lane at 12.20pm on Monday February 3 after eyewitnesses reported the man arguing while holding a young child.
Everyone was escorted out of the café.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said the 26-year old man was spoken to by police and arrested on suspicion of assault at 5.15pm.
Crowds formed outside the cordoned off Costa Coffee over the day while five police officers were inside negotiating with the man.
After the man released the child, the two-year-old was taken to hospital as a precaution.
A Costa Coffee spokesperson said: “Costa Coffee in Friar Lane is currently closed. We are supporting the police as they work to resolve the incident.”
It has been confirmed that the child is unharmed following the domestic incident and the cordon has been lifted.
