Followed? Harassed? Spiked? #NottSafe – share YOUR experiences of feeling unsafe in Nottingham

We want to hear when women in our city do not feel safe.

Every time it happens.

Sarah Everard and Sabina Nessa will sadly not be the last women lost to senseless violence.

Those spiked recently in Nottingham venues will not be the last women targeted in that way.

But we can play our part by harnessing womenā€™s collective experiences to help fuel much-needed changes in society.

Were you catcalled in the street? Were you followed at night? Have you suffered sexual harassment or other crimes? Have you ever been spiked?

Tell us what happened, where it happened and when it happened.

Every woman has experienced feeling unsafe.

It is part of a ā€œwomenā€™s lifeā€ to hold the keys while walking faster to get home or simply avoiding going out after dark.

It is something women have assimilated because it is their everyday life, and it is a constant occurrence.

Now ā€“ in the light of the horrific recent high-profile cases of violence towards women and the increase in spiking incidentsā€“ we want to make this invisible suffering visible.

We want women to tell us via the form below each time they do not feel safe.

We want to build up the story of violence towards women in our city in the coming weeks and months.

We will map your submissions to show those in positions of power the extent of the problems women faces.

If you agree, we may share your individual stories where appropriate.

So please, tell us about your experiences below.Ā Any information submitted will be treated as confidential.

If you leave your contact details, we may contact you to hear more about your story, but no identifying details will be published without you expressing permission.

We may make time and location details less specific if we feel it will identify individuals:

Platform MagazineĀ is seeking to use this form to understand the experiences that women go through, as well as highlighting the specific locations where such incidents can take place.

Whilst we understand all people can be harassed, spiked or more generally made to feel unsafe, the dominant issue is of harassment against women and girls.
