Girls Night In to be held at Nottingham Trent Students’ Union

Nottingham Trent Students’ Union has organised a Girls Night In event to celebrate and empower female students.

The event, which will be held on Tuesday, November 23 from 6pm in the City Studentsā€™ Union, will be open to all students who identify as female.

The evening will be packed with free activities, music, live demonstrations, dance, crafts, beauty tutorials, table tennis, and freebies.

Pizza will be also provided, as well as welcome mocktails.

The Girls Night In event will take place prior to This Girl Can week where there will be a range of exciting activities planned for NTU students, encouraging female students to try new activities.

Commenting on the event, Psychology student Rita Rodrigues, 20, said: ā€œI think it is a great idea.

ā€œBecause it is entertaining, I feel like more girls are likely to meet so many people there.

ā€œBut I feel like maybe it should be done more than once a year?

“I donā€™t feel once is enough, especially for people that arenā€™t able to go.

ā€œWould be nice to meet other girls in other events.ā€

Katie Green, NTU Journalism student, also thinks the event is a great opportunity for girls to feel safe, especially after recent incidents of spiking in clubs.

She said: ā€œI think this is a great event to hold for girls who are still not feeling safe enough to go out.

ā€œAfter everything that had gone on recently, it allows us some sort of freedom again to go out without being fearful of getting spiked.ā€

Heidi Spencer, Sport Engagement Coordinator said: ā€œOur Girls Night In is a wonderful event, providing the opportunity to socialise, make new friends, learn new skills and watch some great performances.

ā€œMore importantly it is an evening to celebrate and empower each other in a safe place.ā€

If you want to have a nice evening, meet new people, and have fun in a safe space make sure you head to the Student Union next Tuesday.
