Nottingham students were left in tears when the DJ of Ocean nightclub announced the death of a former One Direction star Liam Payne.
The DJ revealed the death by dedicating his former band’s song to him just minutes after news broke in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Partygoers were taken off guard and left tearful by the situation, a lot of them not yet being aware of the tragic news.
A product design student from Nottingham Trent University, Alfie Kettle, said: “I was quite shocked.
“It’s not what you expect to hear when you’re in the middle of a dancefloor on a night out.
“There were a lot of crying girls.”
The DJ clarified in a second speech that he was aware of Liam’s death, going on to play songs such as Die Young by Kesha.
A forensic psychology student, Aimee Lloyd, captured the moment on camera.
She said: “Girls were freaking out, there were a couple crying.”

Ocean nightclub Andy Hoe responded on behalf of the DJs that night, explaining that students who had heard the news wanted an announcement to be made.
He said: “You don’t really get much choice if you’re getting that much pressure from customers to play or say something.
“They can’t really win to be fair, they either play it or don’t play it, either of which could be seen by some as disrespectful.”
Liam Payne, 31, was one of five former members of One Direction, all of which have posted tributes and messages in his memory since his passing.
Louis Tomlinson said: “I lost a brother.
“Liam was somebody I looked up to everyday, such a positive, funny, and kind soul.”
Cheryl Cole, mother of Liam’s child Bear, also gave a heartbreaking tribute expressing the grief her and her son will have to go through.
