Hundreds gather at vigil to tribute NTU student Arjun Singh

Hundreds of people gathered in the city centre to pay tribute to Nottingham Trent University student Arjun Singh.

At 6pm on Wednesday 22 January, friends, family, students and members of the Sikh community came together at the vigil which marked his death.

Candles were lit and flowers were laid outside Slug and Lettuce where the incident took place.

Over the course of an hour, many prayers and speeches were said honouring Arjun.

Deputy leader of Nottingham City Council, Sally Longford said: “On behalf of Nottingham City Council, I offer my deepest condolences to Arjun’s family, his friends and the communities in both Nottingham and Derby who have been affected by this devastating tragedy.”

Arjun died in hospital after the incident in Long Row at around 4am on Saturday 18 January.

Two people are currently charged in connection to Arjun’s death.

A fundraiser set up by Arjun’s family to help them give back to the people that helped him has raised almost £10,000.
