People are expected to gather in Nottingham’s Old Market Square this afternoon for an anti-spiking protest, following a rise in spiking reports over the last few weeks.
The protest is organised by Club Safe Collective and has received support from Nottingham East MP Nadia Whittome.
Beginning at two o’clock this afternoon (Saturday, October 30), people are expected to protest against the spiking experienced by women in nightclubs across Nottingham and the UK.
The protest comes after a nightclub boycott organised by Girls Night In took place earlier on this week (Wednesday, October 27).
A statement on the Club Safe Collective Instagram page reads: “We demand that spiking is taken seriously by nightclubs.
“It is their responsibility to ensure that their nightclubs are a safe space for all.
“We are a gender-inclusive movement and stand for all genders affected by spiking.”
