A 31 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a serious sexual assault took place in Nottingham city centre in the early hours of Thursday morning (28 November).
The incident was reported to have taken place in an alleyway between Zara and Barclay’s bank at the junction of Cheapside and High Street.
Detective Sergeant Chris Berryman from Nottinghamshire Police said: “Rape is an incredibly serious offence and, as a force, we will investigate all reports thoroughly.
“We understand that offences like these are concerning for the public but our enquiries have led to an arrest. Our focus can now turn to continuing to understand the circumstances surrounding this case and offering ongoing support to the victim.”
The man remains in police custody this evening, and the cordon which had been in place throughout the day has now been removed.
