Nottingham Trent University has been named ‘University of the Year 2023’ at the annual Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs).
The WUSCAs are based on over 35,000 reviews submitted by students and aim to deliver guidance to prospective university students.
They are the largest student-voted annual awards in the UK.
The University of the Year winner is determined based on the quality of facilities, teaching, and support, but also on how well the university has aided the students’ self-growth and how positively they perceived their university experience outside of teaching and classes.
One of the reviews submitted for NTU read: “I feel there is something for everyone to get involved in and immense levels of support all around campus for whatever you need, these can be online and in person.
“The wide range of facilities helps when you want to find a quiet place to study or a change of scenery to study.
“Can’t recommend NTU enough!”

NTU also took home the award for the Postgraduate category and came second in the categories Student Life and International.
It was overall shortlisted in six categories.
NTU’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Edward Peck, said: “These awards are particularly special to us because they are voted for by our students, and I am proud to be able to call NTU the University of the Year.
“We are committed to giving our community a student experience like no other, and this accolade is testament to this hard work.
“Thank you to all our students for their support and for sharing their views, we are delighted that all our hard work is creating such a brilliant experience for you.”
Benedict Wills, Nottingham Trent Students’ Union President, added: “What a fantastic achievement, by a fantastic university!
“Over the last six years, I have had the privilege of studying, working, and supporting NTU through some really tough times.
“The students are the beating heart of universities, and the hard work NTU has put in has paid off this year!”
Previously this academic year, NTU was named the Times and the Sunday Times Modern University of the Year 2023.
