‘The Nest’ on Derby road will create 57 new student studio apartments by the end of this year.
Engineering consultancy Dice is managing the £5 million project to bring purpose-built student accommodation into the city.
The project will feature 57 studio apartments with a ground floor commercial area.
The timber frame foundation of the build has been laid, with plans to finish the project by January 2020.
Wayne Oakes, director of Dice, said that the build was “designed with international students in mind.”
He said that the design incorporates: “the latest in studio design, communal facilities and an amazing location, close to the city centre.”
Dice are working closely with developers to minimise effects on the environment and existing buildings in the surrounding area, according to Oakes.
Various Nottingham companies are contributing to the project, including engineers, mechanics and contractors, all from the Nottingham area.
Nottingham-based architect Cleveley King designed the initial structure for the build.
Kane Tang, the owner of the project, said that it will be key for international students living in the city.
He said: “five million students study outside their home country, which is set to grow to eight million by 2025”.
“The Nest is being marketed at international students as everything they need will be under one roof. It will provide students with complete confidence that they will be moving into accommodation that is of good quality.”
The project is set to be completed before the end of the year and will begin housing students in January 2020.
