NTSU announce executive officer winners 2020

Following a month of hard work and organisation, and just three days voting, the winners of the NTSU elections have been announced.

The winners were announced in the evening on 29 April after the candidates themselves were informed of the results.

Cameron Sutton has been elected VP Opportunities and will be responsible and help coordinate the societies at the Students’ Union.

Upon winning he told us: “Firstly I’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone that voted for me! It means a lot to know I have your backing and can’t wait to work alongside my new colleagues.

“I’m looking forward to meeting even more people next year, as well as all the society leaders who help make NTU an incredible place to be involved with,” he added.

Carter Yim was elected as VP Postgraduate and will help represent the community of postgraduate students studying at NTU.

He said: “I’m really grateful for this experience as it allowed me to see all the support I have from my friends who have helped me in various stages of the election, it makes you appreciate the people who helps you through this stressful period.”

Zoe Mallett has been elected as VP Community and Welfare and will take over from Liv Broad in the role.

She told us: “Being elected as the next VP community and Welfare has made me feel so happy and grateful! I am literally speechless, and that doesn’t happen often.”

“It’s definitley a ray of sunshine during this current time and I am so grateful of all the support I have achieved from friends, family and even strangers.”

“I am very excited to start the job and implement so many of my ideas. I’m so thankful I’ve been given this opportunity to help students and I promise I will not disappoint,” she added.

Zoe Clifton has also taken over from Momen as VP Sport and will help coordinate Varsity and countless other sporting events across the University.

She told us: “I’m so excited to be elected as the next NTSU VP Sport and I can’t wait to get started!”

“I’m so grateful to everyone who has helped me throughout the campaign process and to everyone that voted for me,” she added.

“I’m really looking forward to what this year holds and being able to help students at NTU.”

Troy Brocklebank has also been elected as VP Education and told us he can’t wait to get started in his new role:

“Firstly I would like to say a huge thanks to those that supported me during my campaign. I know it will be a challenge, but with the newly elected team, I am very excited to get started and make a difference.”

Conor Naughton was elected NTSU President, the highest ranking of all the positions and will chair the Students’ Union for the next academic year.

He told us: “I’m absolutely over the moon to be elected! There will undoubtedly be a lot of challenges ahead but I’m confident that myself and the new executive team can give every student the best experience possible.”

“I want to say a huge thank you to every single person that voted for me, and another massive thank you to everyone who campaigned for me!”
