With the final nominations for this year’s Students’ Union awards just announced, we are pleased to announce that Platform’s name is on the list.
One of the nominations that Platform has received is for Society of the Year, a designation which ranks Platform in the Students’ Union’s top six societies.
This year’s Editor in Chief for Platform, Harvey Clitheroe, said: “I’m unbelievably proud of the whole Platform team; we have been nominated for society of the year for 3 years in a row now, and it just goes to show the commitment each years committee have to the magazine.
“It was my highest target at the start of the year to be nominated at the Student Publication Awards and for society of the year at the SU awards so I’m overjoyed that we have all achieved that.
“Let’s hope we can win it this year!”
The chain of good news does not stop here for Platform, as one of our most dedicated writers, Faith Pring, has also been nominated for Society Committee Member of the Year.
She said: “I’m absolutely thrilled at the news of being nominated for Society Committe Member of the Year at this year’s Students’ Union awards.”
Faith, 21, has been writing for Platform since 2017.
This year, she was in charge of the news section, and she has just been elected as the Editor in Chief for the next academic year.
She added: “Platform has been a huge part of my University and Trent career and acting as News Editor this year has been an incredible experience that I hope to build on again in the coming academic year.
“We’ve grown so much as a society, and hopefully that’s something we’ll be able to build on again this year.
“Being shortlisted for society of the year just shows how much effort and committment our amazing committee have put in this year and I can’t wait what our new committee will be able to achieve this year”
The award ceremony will take place on Facebook Live on April 28, at 4pm.
