NTSU unveil new Progress Pride flag on Brackenhurst campus

Brackenhurst campus becomes the third Nottingham Trent University campus to install a Progress Pride flag following a Big Idea campaign from students.

This follows the installation of the rainbow crossing on Clifton Campus last year outside their student services centre.

The Progress Pride flag includes colours to represent the Transgender community and the BAME community (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) who were overlooked by the original Pride flag design.

Conor Naughton, President of Nottingham Trent’s Students’ Union, said: “I’m really proud to have helped play a part in bringing this big idea to life at Brackenhurst.

“Having this pride progress rainbow road allows students to feel welcome and included while studying at NTU.

“It’s a fantastic way to visibly show our support to the LGBTQ+ community, celebrating our amazing diverse student community.

“There are now rainbow roads at both Clifton and Brackenhurst and a progress flag on the Maudsley building at the City campus which helps make all students feel included and welcome across campuses”.

Sam Burton, the president of Pride society at NTSU, said: “The new rainbow road at Brackenhurst is another amazing addition at NTU.

“Alongside the rainbow road at Clifton and the new progress flag at the city campus, we hope that it helps all LGBTQ+ students feel seen and showcase pride at NTU.”

The introduction of the progress pride flag at Brackenhurst campus acts in response to the Big Ideas campaign that the university runs.
