#NTSUElections2022 turnout set to surpass 2015 record

The Nottingham Trent Students’ Union Elections 2022 turnout is set to surpass its previous record set in 2015.

A record of 7015 NTU students cast their votes in the 2015 NTSU Elections.

Last year’s turnout of 6,932 has also been beaten, and the number of Nottingham Trent University students who cast their votes across all 2022 NTSU elections is currently close to hitting 7,000.

This is the equivalent of an approximate 20 per cent turnout, one of the best for student unions around the country.

According to a 2021 Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) report, NTSU has the fifth largest membership spread out over all five campuses.

In this year’s elections, students can vote for their 2022/23 Executive Team, which includes the President, VP Opportunities, VP Community & Welfare, VP Education, VP Postgraduate and VP Sport roles, Brackenhurst, Confetti and Mansfield Officers, School Officers, Equality & Diversity Network Chairs, and society committee members.

The top five societies with the highest turnout as of Thursday, March 17, are: the 93 Percent Club, Design for Stage and Screen, British Sign Language, Clifton Christian Union, and Latin American.

Hong Kong Root, EFI, NTU Pocker Society, Oikos Nottingham, and NTU Nursing Society are the societies with the lowest turnout so far.

A competition is run by the NTSU for societies to win £100 for their budget for each of the three small (0 – 50 members), medium (50 – 200 members), and large (200+ members) societies.

Students voting in this year’s elections can also win various prizes, including a Nintendo Switch Lite and Zelda game, a pair of AirPods (third generation), an annual streaming subscription (e.g. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify etc.), and £50 vouchers for local businesses like Annie’s, Broadway, or Rought Trade.

You can cast your vote by clicking here until 5pm today (Friday, March 18).
