NTU to provide self-defence and yoga as part of annual Wellbeing Week

The series of events are set to run from Monday 8 March until Friday 12 March.

Nottingham Trent University have unveiled the calendar of events for their annual Wellbeing Week.

Arguably more important than ever this year, students are encouraged to spend time away from work and take part in special sessions to look after their mental health.

Students at the university can take part in a variety of planned activities throughout the week.

Activities include yoga, rock painting, self-defence classes and NTU Move’s 3 Peak challenge.

Zoë Mallett, NTSU’s VP for Community and Welfare, believes the week is perfect timing to help students through the current pandemic.

She said: “Wellbeing Week is such an important week to highlight the importance of looking after your wellbeing throughout your whole life.

“Students have been through a tough time with Covid and the implications it’s had on their time at university and looking after their wellbeing must be a priority.

“Knowing where to reach out for help and little steps which help and lead on to big steps to improve their wellbeing.”

Paul Dodsley, a Student Health and Development officer at NTU, added: “Wellbeing Week could not have come at a better time.

“This year we have focused on providing some fun activities to get involved with.

“Looking after your wellbeing is really important and the things we do on a day to day basis to nourish and nurture our wellbeing is really key.

“We hope the activities and opportunities will provide students with an ideal opportunity to help boost their wellbeing.”
