People of Nottingham welcomed Prince Harry and his fiancée Meghan Markle with open arms and cheers this morning at High Pavement, near the National Justice Museum.
This was their first ever engagement together as a newly-engaged couple, and Nottingham couldn’t be prouder that Prince Harry chose to come here.
Royal watcher, Victoria Cwilewicz said, “I got here quite early this morning, so I got a really, really good spot.”
Over a thousand-people waited eagerly to meet the couple, some of which had been waiting before 7am.
Acting Lady Mayoress of Nottingham, Bell Edis told us, “It’s such a joy for Nottingham for them to come here, I’m ecstatic about meeting them.
“I told Meghan that she’s stunning and that she’ll be the people’s Meghan and she said thanks very much
“I think she’ll follow the rules and regulations in the royal family, but I don’t think she’ll be trodden on and I hope not, I really hope not.”
Harry and Meghan enjoyed interacting with the crowd on a 25-minute walk from High Pavement to Nottingham Contemporary where they went to see the ‘World Aids Day’ charity fair.
Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Michael Edwards gave Meghan his admirations as he told us, “She’s no mug is she.
“She’s a UN ambassador for women. She’s got substance behind her
“So watch out for her.”
The visit finished around 1pm as the couple left to go to Nottingham Academy.
“It’s been emotional, it’s been a pleasure,” A policeman shouted as the event drew to a close.
