Two entrepreneurs have taken to the pubs of Nottingham to fill a hidden market gap for beer and food tasting.
Lucy Simons, 54 from Sherwood and Alex Downham, 35 from Arnold have joined together to form new Nottingham beer and food tasting organisation, Lets Beer, with the hope of filling the hidden demand for beer and food tasting as opposed to the more traditional wine and food.
Both Lucy and Alex have experience working in the beer industry, with Lucy working as manager for The Abdication pub in Daybrook and Alex working as a beer tour guide for Nottingham venues.
The two have recently completed their certified Cicerone qualifications, which is widely recognised within the Beer industry.
Lucy said: “I’d already done a few beer-related events and I wanted to look at how to expand that.
“Alex and I had got to know each other through our beer training courses so the idea to set up Lets Beer just seemed like quite a good fit.”
The organization had recently held a beer and cheese tasting event at the Cock and Hoop in Nottingham which was met with great success.
Alex said: “Certainly in the East Midlands, there isn’t a huge market for beer and food like you might find down south in areas like London.
“That’s one of the reasons why we were so interested in setting up.”
He added: “I believe our first event was very much a great success and I’m sure lucy agrees that we both look forward to what the future holds and our events that will continue to take place,”
