Tier 2 lockdown for Nottinghamshire confirmed by the Prime Minister

Boris Johnson has just confirmed Nottinghamshire will go into high level restrictions.

The restrictions will come into force on Wednesday, October 14.

This follows the latest reports where Nottingham City Centre’s weekly rata (COVID-19 infections per 100,000 population) was almost six times higher than the England average.

In the official announcement made on Monday, October 12, PM Boris Johnson said: “With all the lessons we have learnt in the last few months, we are getting better and better at fighting this virus”.

Nottingham MPs Alex Norris, Lilian Greenwood and Nadia Whittome have released a statement after meeting with a Government Minister earlier today.

The local leaders said “we need immediate action to protect our communities”.

The MPs call the Government to take into consideration people’s ‘financial security’ during this time when the rules will be put in force.
