After a 19-year-old University of Nottingham student was fined £10,000 for hosting a house party, thousands have turned to social media to voice their opinions.
Stuart Hawk, 19, a politics student at UoN, was given the maximum punishment by Nottinghamshire Police after hosting a party with around 50 attendees.
Police attended the party in Lenton on Friday, September 11, after neighbours reported it.
Community Protection Officers attended initialy but faced hostile behaviour and were forced to call upon support from the police.
Hawk – and his housemates – have since apologised for their actions at the weekend.
News of the UoN student’s punishment made national and international headlines, with people turning to social media to voice their opinions.
