Derby-based band King Blonde headlined Rough Trade on Saturday night, performing their new track for the concert goers.
Rounding off a recent string of gigs across the East Midlands, the five piece treated the crowd with their first offering of ‘Afraid of You’.
The group say their new tune is about exploring fractious relationships and really opened them up as songwriters.
Bassist Jamie Irving said: “We’re happy to be back headlining in Nottingham and playing in this venue, I think it’s been a really great night.
“Really chuffed with all the compliments about the new track too because that’s been in the working since summer.
“Hopefully now we can keep growing and playing more shows like this one.”
Formed in 2021, King Blonde have been a staple of the Nottingham and Derby indie scenes in recent years and didn’t disappoint with an electrifying performance.
Winding us through their hit-laden discography, the quintet showed us all their musical abilities, with soaring melodies and moody solos to match their lofty reputation.
The audience savoured every note and at the end of the show the young artists treated everyone to a special, unplanned, second encore.
Despite this show being their last of the year, Irving says the band are looking forward eagerly: “Next year we planning to release even more new material and hopefully secure some great gigs.
“Festival season will be a busy time too so be on the lookout for any announcements.”
Having already played at Y-Not Festival 2023, the boys will be itching to make a return in 2025.
The new single, ‘Afraid of You’, was released on November 1 and is available on all platforms.
