Notts County midfielder Josh Martin says he’s enjoying life at the club following a “difficult” summer without a club.
The former Portsmouth player impressed in his first County start against Harrogate on Saturday (October 26).
Martin signed for the club at the end of September and has had to wait for his first start.
Martin’s contract runs out in January but the midfielder has said he isn’t worried about his future and he is “not looking too far ahead.”
Speaking on Thursday ahead of FA Cup First Round tie with Alfreton Town, Martin said: “It felt good to get good running minutes and get a good feel with the lads in the team.
“I’m really enjoying it it’s a great group of lads, great coaching staff and it just feels nice to be playing again to be part of it and to be in such a nice group as well,” he added.
Speaking on being a free agent, the former Norwich player added: “What’s tough sometimes is to understand that you go from playing a couple of years ago at Norwich to not having a club to get your head around that is difficult.
“There’s a lot of players out there who are going through it as well and it’s part of the game but it’s not easy, you just want to be playing and when you see the lads playing it’s difficult.”
Notts County’s next game is against Alfreton Town in the FA Cup first round on Friday (November 1) and kicks off at 7.45pm in which Martin is expected to start.
