On an action-packed Super Wednesday on Clifton Campus, it was the University of Nottingham who came out on top against Nottingham Trent University in the Women’s Volleyball.
It proved to be a difficult afternoon all around as UoN came out on top to claim the single Super Wednesday point, but Trent provided a firm fight in the Women’s Volleyball as they lost 3-2 (15-25; 25-20; 17-25; 25-23; 9-15).
The visitors dominated early on in the first set as they stormed to an 18-10 lead before ending the set 15-25.
Trent provided premature signs of a comeback when they took a 12-5 advantage in the second set, but warning signs continued to show despite the set falling in Trent’s favour 25-20.
The third set provided more of the same as NTU provided a spirited fight as the scores held tensely at 11-15, although their pressure was let down as UoN restored their set advantage by winning 17-25.
But in this ding-dong dramatic clash between UoN and Trent the girls in Pink proved they would not be beaten comfortably as they clinched the fourth set 25-23 to take it to a final set.
And the fortune seemed to end there for Trent as triumph eventually fell to UoN.
NTU found themselves 3-10 down very early on in the final set and a spirited comeback did see them claw back the deficit, but it was not to be as UoN’s precision and attack resulted in a 9-15 win to claim victory in the volleyball.
