University of Nottingham (UON) got off to a flying start in week one of this years Varsity series against Nottingham Trent University (NTU).
Thai Boxing kicked off the first week of Varsity and was a sign of things to come as UON won by an overall score line of 5-3 away from home.

In the netball, despite a turbulent game which felt like it could go either way, UON took command of the fourth and final quarter and beat NTU 48-45.
Trent looked set to get their second win of the series and tie the scores at two wins each as they led UON 3-0 in the futsal at the half way stage.
However, the away side fell apart in the final ten minutes and UON capitalised to retain the futsal trophy and retain the universities lead.
The basketball saw both universities win a game, with Trent’s women falling short before the men’s team won at the David Ross Sports Village.
In the series’ Super Wednesday, Trent went on to win just three of the eleven sport competitions meaning UON have a healthy lead overall in the series.
