As a student, money can generally tend to be tight which means that we are always looking for an extra fiver or so. These items are ones currently and potentially out there in your garage or loft that are lying around but could help you fund traveling, studying and general day to day life. These are products that can be held onto as their value will increase as the years go by, with new market items such as memorabilia from Game Of Thrones.
There are two types of people out there, those that hoard and those like myself that throw everything out even when they probably shouldn’t. There can be some real gems hidden amongst the rubbish and below will be just some to name a few.
Books
- The Lord of the Rings trilogy books – A first edition, the first print of these collection signed by the author is currently worth £18,000 but their price will dramatically increase up to £100,000.
- Harry Potter collection – The first printing of this set of books signed by J.K. Rowling will be worth £50,000, up from its current value of £30,000.
- A Game of Thrones – The disappointment from how the show ended will disappear if you own a signed first edition as it will be worth £1,000 in the next 50 years!
Magazines
- Paper Magazine Winter 2014 Issue – This is the ´Break the Internet´ cover where Kim Kardashian West left everyone speechless and actually broke the internet. Its current value is £229.99 and is projected to rise up to £600.
- British Vogue, December 2017 – This is the first issue edited by Edward Enninful. Its current value is £29.99 and predictions have it increasing up to £250.
- Vogue Paris, March 2017 – This issue stars Valentina Sampaio, the first transgender person to feature on the front cover of Vogue Paris. This issue will value at £250 in the next 50 years.
Football Programmes
- 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia – The official programme will jump from a value of £9.99 to £500, based on how much the French (who won the event) will be willing to pay.
- Tottenham vs Crystal Palace, April 2019 – This will increase its price from £15 to £300 based
The top tips to help for the future and potential gain is to maintain the condition of the items and preserve it as best as you can. This will always reel in more money than a book that is beaten black and blue. My dad once came with me to meet Cheryl Cole much to his dismay (I was 14) but just by getting a plain signed copy he managed to sell it for over £60 which someone else went onto sell for over £110. As you can see just by keeping signed copies you are onto a winner.
