Cassia returned to Nottingham for their headlining tour Why You Lacking Energy on Sunday October, 16 at Rescue Rooms.
The trio create uplifting, tropical music with lead singer, Rob Ellis, heavily influenced by his families exploring over the years which has led him to uncover a variety of styles and sounds.
Dude, My Dude kicked off the night as the first support act, the London based alternative indie-rock band will make you dance all night long with their nostalgic feel pouring through their songs.
This incredible band won the opportunity to support Cassia on tour after producing a memorable cover of Cassia’s tune 16-18 during their weekend trip to Paris and filming a video for their friends.
The members consist of Benjamin Lyth and Matthieu Thienpont on vocals and guitar, who originally began the group. Angie Prasanti on bass and Matt E Williams on drums.
Opening their act with one of their latest singles, Don’t Be A Salad, was the perfect start to the night with the upbeat guitars and brilliant vocals which started off this fun set. They played tunes like: Bike Ride, Loser and Eleanor’s Detour. The band surprised fans with a cover of The Wannadies hit You & Me Song. This upcoming band have a lot to offer and are definitely going places.
Next on stage was Eli Smart, who creates lo-fi, chilled indie tunes which you could easily listen to on repeat for hours. The singer performed Highschool Steady which is soft on the ears alongside singles like No Destination and Come on, Come on, Come on. His new EP Boonie Town has just been released, so give it a listen.
After watching Cassia perform at Dot To Dot Festival in Rock City we knew they were quickly becoming a new favourite act of ours and this concert only proved that further.
Whether it is rocking the guitar, smashing the drums or knocking together a couple of cans of drinks, you could tell the crowd was in for a real treat.
The band consists of lead singer and guitarist Rob Ellis, bassist Lou Cotterill and drummer Jacob Left who all met in their hometown of Macclesfield.
Throwing it right back to 2016, with Moana all the way to their latest album Why You Lacking Energy which was released this July. Cassia played a mix of old and new tunes to a pleased crowd.
Laid back songs like Drifting and Slow made for a blissful gig with fans bopping to the beat. Similar and Motions had fans reciting the lyrics to the catchy choruses with clever instrumentals complimenting these pop indie tunes.
The song of the night was 16-18 – Why You Lacking Energy? with pink and blue lights scanning across the room whilst Rob gave everything on vocals, accompanied by powerful guitar and drum work.
The latest album was showcased with tracks including See Myself, Morning’s Coming and Right There evoking a sense of vitality with their youthful sound.
Their infectious personalities shined throughout the night, with a drum-off to initiate Small Spaces which created an exciting buzz across the venue.
This highly underrated band are definitely one to check out if you have not already!
