A silent vigil calling for a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel was held on November 19 at the Robin Hood Statue.
Organised by Nottingham Friends of Standing Together, the 40-minute vigil began with talks from the organiser Pete Radcliffe and Mp Nadia Whittome before silence fell over the over 100 people in attendance.
Councillor Matt Shannon attended and had this to say after the event on X.
I attended this important gathering this afternoon. A silent vigil shared with people in our city, calling for a ceasefire and the release of hostages as the first steps towards a lasting peace for the people of Israel and Palestine. https://t.co/POtR8SlBOr

On a leaflet given out at the event the group describes themselves as organising both Palestinian Arab and Jewish citizens of Israel in common struggles around shared issues, against the agenda of Israel’s right-wing government, to demand equal rights to peace, justice and independence for both peoples.
