The Nottingham based Peachhead’s lead singer speaks on balancing a debut national tour whilst working towards a university degree.
The lead singer of the alternative rock band Peachhead, Dan Peplow, a third-year marketing student at Nottingham Trent University explains how he has to balance his university work with making music and performing as they take on their first tour less than a year since getting together.
Peachhead were formed in November 2021 and have had a huge growing success since, performing at the classic live music bar Percy Picklebackers in Lace Market, across to the edgy, independent pub in the city centre, The Golden Fleece.
He said: “I try and balance this band with university but I’m not going to lie – it’s difficult.
“But it’s really handy doing a marketing degree because it means I understand how important social media is to push our band to bigger places.”
After the split of their previous band, Dan and drummer Aidan Kelly posted a Facebook advertisement in local Nottingham community groups where they found their guitarist, Jack Courage, and bassist, Reece Ezard.

‘Is This A Tour?’ kicked off in Birmingham in October and is set to finish in Harrogate on December 18th, as lead singer Dan works on his dissertation in his final year of university.
Playing nine shows across seven different cities, Peachhead’s debut tour began less than one year before the foursome first came together to start performing, travelling up to Leeds and over to Lincoln as Dan and Aidan continue to work on their degrees based in Nottingham.
“We love playing at all these new venues and we are always down to pick up gigs wherever we can from whoever wants us, because any way of getting ourselves out there to perform is what we need.” said Dan.
He continued, saying: “It’s great that we play to Indie crowds too because they enjoy our sound even if it’s a bit different.”
Peachhead’s first ever single ‘Hump Day’ was released in the summer and became rapidly popular within the indie and alternative music scene in Nottingham.
“I am really proud that we’ve gotten to play so many great gigs at the best venues all over, and to be able to have a following thanks to social media and having such a big outreach in less than a year of being together has been incredible.”
